We’ve been reading “Fearless” by Max Lucado for our Bible Study. One thing I have come to realize is that I definitely tend toward fear as much as I preach that faith is the way to go. I learned in CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) to be more aware of myself, so I am trying to be more intentional in putting that into practice. I have been more discerning as to what causes me fear and why. When I am able to do that I can turn it over to God and feel much more comfortable taking risks with a faithful attitude. One thing we have a lot of fear around is money. We are so scared that if we give it away we will be left with nothing. But hear these words from Luke: “Give, and it will be given to you. A good portion–packed down, firmly shaken, and overflowing–will fall into your lap.” (Luke 6:38 The Common English Bible). Consecration Sunday is coming up. I am praying to step out in faith and try to tap down my fear. May we give with joy knowing that God desires the best for all of us. Are you willing to take a risk with me?
