Since 1969, CROP Hunger Walks are “viewed by many as the granddaddy of charity walks” and the UMC of Monroe has participated in the Bridgeport CROP Walk for many, many years. The event is held on the first Sunday in May. Babies in strollers, children, adults and runners have participated. There are currently two distances that can be walked but all result in the same goal of raising donations and awareness of hunger, even locally. We join with the many other Connecticut and United States communities to help raise much needed funding for feeding the hungry. The CROP Hunger Walk is a program initiated by the Church World Service (CWS).
