Come say Hallelujah with DS Rev. Dr. Alpher Sylvester for his final Connecticut District Conference as Superintendent. This year, we continue with our theme: “Perfecting Your Tools for Evangelism.”

We are excited to welcome Presenter, Facilitator, and Storyteller, Sheila Arnold, who will inspire and equip us for the mission ahead.

Sheila Arnold, fondly known as Ms. Sheila, has been presenting Storytelling Programs, Historic Character Presentations, Christian Monologues, Professional Development and Inspirational/Motivational Speaking for schools, festivals, churches and organizations nationally and internationally since 2003. Sheila is also an Historical Consultant for museums, historical societies and organizations. One of Sheila’s greatest joys is being the co-founder and Artistic Director of Artists Standing Strong Together (ASST), which formed during the 2020 COVID-19 crisis, and continues to be a source of inspiration, strength and action in the storytelling and artists world. Sheila has been honored as a 2021 MacDowell Artist Fellow, a 2020 Mt. Vernon Research Fellow and a 2019 Hewnoaks Artist Colony summer residence Noted Artist. In the past she has worked as a Drama Ministry Director; Colonial Williamsburg employee; Substitute Teacher; and Social Worker for aggressive teens with emotional problems. Sheila lives in Hampton, VA, near her son, Kristopher; her two grandsons, Brooklyn & KJ; as well as, her father and stepmother, Wallace & Vera Arnold. She communicates often with her Atlanta-based sister, Stephanie.

NEW HOURS:  Paper Shredding Event Fundraiser – Saturday, May 3, 2025

Mark your calendar and start organizing your papers! Are your personal papers stacking up with no time to shred them? If so, take advantage of the convenience and security of having your sensitive household and business records destroyed by the pros. Please consider making our Paper Shredding Fundraiser part of your spring cleaning!

On Saturday, May 3 the United Methodist Church of Monroe will be holding a Paper Shredding Fundraiser with NEW HOURS for Spring 2025 ... same location!  Stop by between 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Rite Aid, 435 Main Street, Monroe (corner of Route 25 and Route 59).  We'll be there rain or shine!

The event will benefit missions near and far.  Individuals and businesses are welcome.  No need to exit your vehicle … just pull up, pop open your trunk and we’ll take care of the rest!

*Cost:  STILL ONLY $10 for a standard archive box (15”x12”x10”); price increases $5 according to container size. Payment: cash, check (made out to: UMC Monroe with “Paper Shredding” in the memo line) or credit/debit.

We’re gearing up for the 2025 CROP Walk!

The United Methodist Church of Monroe has been actively participating since its inception 50 years ago – in fact the pastor and members of UMC Monroe were an integral part of bringing this event to the greater Bridgeport area.

If we work together, we can end world hunger. That’s why we’re participating in the CROP Hunger Walk to support CWS and help families who are struggling with hunger.  Please join us with your steps and your donations. Together we will provide more meals for the growing number of people in our community who need them and create greater food security in communities around the world.  Join our team, support our team with your prayers and gifts, and help end hunger, one step at a time!
