UPDATE:  Although the tree work has been completed – YAY!! — contributions will continue to be accepted to continue on with the remediation work to be done in the music office.  Checks payable to UMCM with “Trees” in memo line or donate online through the website, clicking on “Tree Maintenance”.  Many thanks to those that have contributed.

Dear UMCM Family,

The United Methodist Church of Monroe is blessed with beautiful grounds.  With our rural setting, we often see deer, bobcats, and other wildlife during services on Sunday.  Unfortunately, it also means we need to spend money to maintain the property, both inside and out. Here is the situation we now face.

Bad News:  There is work that must be completed as soon as possible.  We need $12,000 in tree work to make the property safe.  There are approximately 30 dead and diseased trees that need to be removed immediately.  They represent a legitimate safety risk.

We also have a moisture and possible mold issue in the music office that must be addressed.  A mold remediation company is preparing an estimate for the work which will likely include removing some Sheetrock, treatment, and replacement of the wallboard.  This work cannot be delayed due to health considerations.

GREAT News
Several families have already committed to funding a substantial portion of this expense.  One family has committed to a $6,000 donation to complete this work immediately.

What You Can Do
We are asking for your year-end contribution to help cover the balance of these expenses.  Will you please help?

If you can support this important work with an extra contribution, one over and above your normal giving, your support will be a blessing to our church as we maintain the facility and our property while we prioritize health and safety issues for all who use the property.

Next Steps
There are three ways you can give to support this important effort.

  1. Bring a check to Sunday worship or mail it to the church office at 515 Cutlers Farm Road, Monroe, CT 06468.  Be sure to write “Trees” in the memo line of your check.
  2. Give online using our Realm giving platform. URL: https://onrealm.org/umcmonroe/give/tree
  3. Give via SMS/mobile device by texting “UMCMONROE Tree” to 73256.

For 2021 tax consideration, you will likely want to make your donation by December 31, 2021.

Once the tree expense is covered, any additional funds will be committed to the mold project.  If that is covered 100%, any remaining funds will be retained in the Trustees account to pay for other facility improvements and repairs.  Thank you for your prayerful consideration and support!
